That same night, while going out for pizza, the group are involved in a terrible car accident and Signy is rushed to hospital.

After the accident, Leda – the Sword Bearer – wakes up in an unknown world clothed in the most beautiful armour and with the knowledge that she has a difficult and dangerous mission to accomplish. Meanwhile, Signy lies in a coma and no-one knows if she will ever regain consciousness. Will Leda need to fulfil her destiny and complete the mission in order for Signy to survive?

The two threads of Leda, the Sword Bearer, and the Icelandic teenager Signy are beautifully interwoven and are reminiscent of Robin McKinley and Tamora Pierce. With echoes of Greek mythology and Icelandic folk legend, THE SWORD BEARER is both a brilliant fantasy adventure and an utterly believable story of contemporary life.
