Rights People picks up Aurora Metro
Rights People is thrilled to announce that we will be handling US, Canadian, and translation rights for Aurora Metro (www.aurorametro.com). Aurora Metro is an independent publisher and an arts based charity situated in an old stable building in Twickenham, Middlesex, England. Season 2009 sees has celebrating 20 years and having published over 100 authors. Foreign authors are also important to them with authors from over 20 countries represented in their list mostly translated into English for the first time. Theatre is another one of their passions – with almost 100 playtexts published and around 20 play anthologies to date. In recognition of the company’s work, their titles have been awarded: The Raymond Williams Prize, The Pandora Award and the Gourmand World Cookbook Special Jury Prize for Peace and Best Innovative Foodbook 2004 and many others.

RUBY RED and the VAMPIRE DIARIES
Rights People announces the sale, at auction, of Kerstin Gier’s RUBY RED trilogy to Holt Children’s on behalf of Arena Verlag (NA). In addition, L.J. Smith’s VAMPIRE DIARIES series, which premiered as a television show in the US this September, has also been sold in 15 territories.

Rights People Announces Further Expansion as it takes on International Rights Sales for Alloy Entertainment and Wendy Schmalz Agency.
Rights People, the London-based specialist children’s rights agency, is delighted to announce that it is taking on UK and foreign sales of Alloy Entertainment’s best-selling fiction properties from 1st July 2009, and will also start representing authors from the Wendy Schmalz Agency to the UK and international markets (except for France, Germany, Italy and Portugal).
Rights People is also thrilled to welcome New York based Allison Heiny to its sales force. Allison handled all international rights for Alloy Entertainment and was previously a literary scout with Barbara Tolley & Associates.
In light of the expansion, the Rights People team has reorganised its territory responsibilities in order to provide the best possible service to its clients and its customers around the world.

On behalf of Greenhouse: Following a very busy Bologna Book Fair, Rights People has sold rights to debut novelist Sarwat Chadda’s YA novel THE DEVIL’S KISS to Blanvalet/Penhaligon (Part of Random House) in Germany, Pocket Jeunesse in Fance, Arnoldo Mondadori in Italy, Livanis Publishing Organization in Greece and Editora Rocco in Brazil.

As of March 2008, Rights People will be exclusively representing non-UK English language rights to children’s authors published by Luath Press, including 2007 Children’s Costa Award Winner Ann Kelley.

German rights to SVETLANA GRIMM sold
Susanne Evans at Random House Germany has bought German rights to debut middle grade novel SVETLANA GRIMM AND THE CIRCLE OF RED from Rights People, on behalf of Erin Murphy Literary Agency. The novel by author Lewis Harris is about a girl named Stephanie who believes she is a vampire until an elderly neighbour reveals the truth. Stephanie is in fact a member of the Circle of Red, an elite group of vampire hunters, and only she can stop her blood-thirsty science teacher from sucking her classmates dry!
SVETLANA GRIMM AND THE CIRCLE OF RED will be published by Clarion in spring 2009.
